So-Called Free Press

While George Bush and others of his ilk shaped public
discourse to invade and occupy two sovereign nations,
criticism from the mainstream media, including the
Erie Times was virtually non-existent.

Five years into the neo-con quest for a New Mid-East
Order, thousands of American soldiers are dead or
wounded, hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians
have been killed or severely injured, two ancient
landscapes have been ravaged, civil infrastructures
are destroyed, billions of taxpayer dollars have been
squandered, natural resources have been plundered, our sacred
Constitution compromised, and our credibility as a
nation is in tatters.

The purpose of our free press is to scrutinize and
criticize the actions of those in power. With the Bush
petro-military crowd creating pretexts to strike Iran,
will your paper remain silent once again?
